What does the verified tick mean?
It means that person recorded a short video on this site — about five seconds, from their own camera — and a moderator watched it and judged the face in it to be the same face as the photographs on their listing.
We would rather describe that narrowly than oversell it. It is a human comparing a video against photographs. It is not a biometric liveness check: a recording can be replayed, and software can feed video into a camera as though it were live. A careful reviewer catches most of that, not all of it.
It is also not a background check, a criminal records check or a character reference. It says nothing about anyone's intentions or manners. There is no way to obtain the tick except by recording the video — no manual override exists.
