The Latin American community in Dubai is small but unusually visible, concentrated in hospitality, dance, fitness and the arts. Latina companions here are often at the centre of a social scene rather than at the edge of one.

A small community with a large footprint

Latin Americans are not numerous in Dubai by the standards of the Indian, Filipino or Arab communities, but they are heavily represented in the parts of the city people actually go out in. Restaurants, dance studios, gyms, hotels and events work draw them, and the result is a community that knows the city's social calendar from the production side rather than the audience side.

Latin nights are a fixture, not a novelty

Dubai has a steady circuit of salsa, bachata and Latin-themed evenings that has been running for years and has its own regulars. It is not a tourist gimmick, and someone from the community will know which nights are genuine and which are marketing. If that is the kind of evening you want, this is the page that leads to people who actually dance.

Spanish, Portuguese and English

Most companions here speak Spanish or Portuguese alongside English, and Brazilian and Spanish-speaking South American residents are both represented. The individual listings say which. Where the evening involves visitors from the region, that first language removes a layer of effort from the whole occasion.

What the tick confirms

Nobody appears on this page without having recorded a short video on this site for a moderator to check against her photographs. The tick confirms identity — that the photographs are of her — and makes no wider claim.

Where the community actually goes

The visible Latin Dubai is in the hotels; the real one is smaller and considerably harder to find from outside. Particular nights at particular venues, usually mid-week, with the same faces returning week after week. There is also a substantial Brazilian presence in the restaurant and fitness trades that overlaps only partly with the Spanish-speaking community, and the two do not always move in the same circles. Someone from either will know which of the city's advertised Latin evenings are worth attending and which exist mainly to sell drinks — a distinction that saves a wasted night.
