Hindi-speaking companions in Dubai
Hindi is spoken across Dubai's largest community and through much of its retail, transport and hospitality trade. It is one of the most useful second languages in the city, and one of the most common on this directory.

The language of a very large part of the city
Indians are the largest community in the UAE, and while India is enormously multilingual, Hindi is the closest thing to a shared language across the northern states and a widely understood second one elsewhere. In Dubai that makes it the language of a great deal of daily commerce: shops, taxis, markets, building sites and the back of house in most restaurants. A substantial part of the city runs on it quietly.
Hindi and Urdu in conversation
Spoken Hindi and Urdu are close enough that a conversation can run between them without difficulty, and many companions in this directory list both for that reason. The scripts differ entirely and the formal vocabularies diverge, but for the purposes of an evening they function as one spoken language across both the Indian and Pakistani communities. Filtering by either will surface people who are comfortable in the other.
Where it changes the evening
Family occasions, weddings, and dinners with visiting relatives from North India are the obvious cases — the conversation stops being in English the moment it stops being for the guest. Karama and Bur Dubai are where Hindi is most audible in public, with the restaurants to match. For an evening in the newer districts among international colleagues, it matters less; for anything connected to the community itself, it matters a great deal.
What the tick confirms
Each listing here went public only after the person recorded a short video on this site that a moderator compared with her photographs. It confirms the photographs are of her. It is a check on identity alone.
Not the only Indian language here
Worth saying plainly, because the assumption is common: Hindi does not cover India. Malayalam, Tamil and Bengali are unrelated languages with their own pages in this directory, and a Hindi speaker will not follow any of them. Across much of Dubai's Keralite and Tamil workforce, the regional language is the one that actually gets used. If you know which part of India your evening connects to, the more specific page will serve you better than this one.
